Love Announcements

GOOD NEWS: We want to keep making our About Love Masterclass better and better…so we’ve already added (2) additional one-hour classes to it! All purchasers get lifetime access, so anytime we add stuff you’ll always get the updates. Purchase HERE (or just read more about it.) Thank you for supporting this work!

-Reminder: Apple cider vinegar, used for a face toner (with 50% water), is seriously a game changer for your skin. I had stopped doing this for awhile, but my neighbor facialist reminded me how great it is and my skin has been more smooth and bright since. Also: see my Resources Page for all my favorite natural beauty products. I’m sick in love with these products.

-A BRILLIANT idea for sunscreen: My neighbor creates her own sunscreen using zinc oxide. Well, we all know that can look crazy white on the skin. So she TINTS it using straight up RAW CACAO POWDER, which also adds a nice tone and antioxidants to the face. Genius. I’ve been using her mixture on my face and my hands (because I need to stop being so lazy about sunscreen on our daily walks) and I love, love, love it.

-If I was in the States I’d be buying this RMS Beauty color palette in two seconds. Perfect for highlighting and finishing touches, from one of my favorite clean beauty brands.

-Have you heard of Face Yoga? I’m so intrigued! (My neighbor does the exercises while she’s sitting on the toilet. ha. Not a bad idea. 🙂 )

Books Are Magic, indeed, and a new bookstore by that name is mending the hearts of Brooklynites after a sad closing of a beloved neighborhood bookstore on Court Street. I literally can’t wait to visit. Yay for local bookstores!

-We have been watching our friends’ 2 daughters for a few days (ages 7 & 9) and they brought the COOLEST BOOK: Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls. It’s a book to inspire girls, with 100 short stories of extraordinary women. Everyone from Serena Williams to the Brontë Sisters. I can’t recommend it enough! Every home with children should have this book!

-Our friend, Thomas McConkie, has been doing a mindfulness podcast. He is an incredible human being and this podcast is SUPERB. I can’t recommend it enough! Thomas is extensively trained in the world’s meditative practices, as well as developmental psychology. His podcasts are bite-sized nuggets to help you develop your mindfulness practice.

#GatherforGoats #GatherforGoats #GatherforGoats! The number of goats has been going UP – check it out. (I could stare at that cool website all day.) We’re getting closer to the goal. Join in with any amount you can spare. And follow LHI on Facebook, where Haley has been unfolding the journey of setting up these refugee families with goats, as well as other unbelievable life-saving efforts.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mara

P.S. The sweater I’m wearing is going into our upcoming About Love shop! See a pic of the full sweater on our Facebook feed. It is the softest, coziest thing. And let me know if you’ll want one for fall!

So glad you are blogging again, Mara!!

(Totally unsolicited, but I wish the header said Mara + Danny, instead of vice versa. That seems truer to our experience as readers! But either way, glad to hear your voice again!)

Hi! Thanks so much for this note, Cassandra. I love hearing from people.

And yeah, we actually both wish our URL & logo were the other way, too, since I have been the main voice on the blog and social media. We were thinking of doing aboutlove.co for the site – with Mara+Danny in the logo. But our team advised that we should really use our names for everything. But look at that URL: maraanddanny.com. So many repeating letters! ugh. We were so bummed as we do feel more comfortable with it being the other way since I have been the lead voice. Luckily, with our retreats and classes and everything behind the scenes, Danny and I both share in all of those duties.
